Invisible floor

Sent in by Richard In Level 4-2, when you see a tall line of vertical coins near a pipe and a Nokobon, get hit so you shrink (if you're Super or Superball Mario). Ahead of you are two levels, but the lower one seems out of reach. There is an invisible floor that makes it accessible, but you must be Little Mario to walk across it.

Skip a boss

Sent in by Michael Braniecki When you are in the first level that you ride in the little submarine and facing the boss you: 1. Do not get a mushroom to make yourself bigger. 2. When first in the room dodge the bullets and don't shoot back. 3. Get close to the boss but don't shoot. 4. When he is on the top of the screen dash to the bottom of the screen and go into the little slot that is to the bottom right of the screen. (Where you would go once you have beaten the boss). 5. Shoot the blocks and go through. 6. If you have done it correctly you won't have to beat the boss!

Easy win against Hiyoihoi

Sent in by Ethan You must be big to use this tip. When you get to Hiyoihoi, Let him hit you with ONE of his Ganchans. While you are blinking, run through him and jump on the goal.

Hidden block

Sent in by Urijah Keshka In level 2-3, at the very beginning walk over to the platform where there are three coins. On the left side of the platform, you will see another one below it. Go down there and jump in the air and you will find a hidden block with a mushroom or a flower popping out.

Bonus Coins on Level 2

Sent in by Ethan When you start the second level, go left and jump to reveal an elevator. Ride the elevator to access several coins.

Fly

Sent in by Ethan at The Unofficial World of Nintendo!!! On level 4, go into the second pipe. Directly beneath the exit pipe is two blocks you can break. Break the block that is closest to the wall (if you break both, this trick can still work but is harder to do.) Then jump into the gap that you broke between the block and the wall. At the same time, push and hold the control pad left, and Mario will then do the splits in the air and fly through the wall. This takes a lot of practice to do. This trick also works on level 5 on the fourth pipe.

Torpedo-fish trick

Sent in by Game Wizard When you are on the last level of the 2nd world, and you are in front of one of those fire-breathing-fish-thingies, and those torpedo-fish do that loop thing, and come at you, you should, 1. Go down under the torpedo-fish. 2. Move up behind the torpedo-fish. 3. Shoot the torpedo-fish. 4. Zoom away before the fire-breathing fish blows another fire-ball at you.

Squat down trick

Sent in by Olivia If you are Super Mario and you can't go through some of the places Small Mario can, squat down next to the place you want to go through and hit the A button. Mario will walk along. You have to press the A button continuously or it won't work. You can stop when you have finished going through the place you want to go through.

Mario floats

Sent in by Andrew at The Unofficial World of Nintendo!!! Go into a pipe, get everything go out of it and as soon as you get out of the pipe press Start a few times really fast and Mario will float.

Extra life

Sent in by Joey On world 1-2 on the first area that has a ? under the tree tops you go as far to the left as you can without falling of there should be an extra life if you jump up.
Sent in by Andrew In the first level, go to the first set of nine blocks jump of get all the coins, stand on top of the ? mark and jump and hit the 4th block I think and a life will fly out.

Hidden elevator

Sent in by Jeffrey Davis When you enter the third level, to the left there is a wall. Get right in front of it and hit A to jump. An elevator will appear. Stand on the question mark to the right to jump onto it. It will take you to the top and you can pass over a bit of the stage.

Hidden coins

Sent in by Kelly Steiner at The Unofficial World of Nintendo!!! In the 3rd world at the very beginning be big. You have to hit the second brick between the coin boxes. After you hit the brick and it has disappeared jump up where the brick was before you hit it. Once this is done a thing will appear. Jump onto it and it will automatically start to bring you to the top. Once to the top move Mario to the right until he comes to a tube. Stand on the tube and press down. There will be many coins for you to get.

Change the number of lives, coins, or time

Pause the game, then hit Select 16 times. A box should appear over lives, time, or coins. You can use the A and B buttons to set these to whatever you wish.

Expert level

After you finish the game once, press any button on the Title Screen and the cursor will change from a mushroom to a Mario Face. Press Start to play the expert Level that wil1 have more enemies, harder enemies, and they will be in different places.

Stage select

After you finish the game twice in a row, you may activate a Stage Select by pressing A. The more you press A, the higher the stage. Press Start to begin.

Continue

Sent in by Ethan at The Unofficial World of Nintendo!!! If you are subjected to a "game over" while in the Easter Island level, keep pushing start when the words "game over" appear. This will result in circumventing the game over function and you will be able to continue playing.
For every 100,000 points you earn as you play, you'll be able to continue once after your game ends. For example, if you earn 300,000 points the first game, you'll be able to continue three times. If you then continue your game, and score another 100,000 points, you'll "earn back" the continue you used. You can build up a maximum of nine continues.
